India is the diabetes capital of the world. 77 Million Diabetic patients in India will double to 134 million by 2045. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0168822718302031

Diabetes is a growing challenge in India with estimated 8.7% diabetic population. https://www.who.int/india/Campaigns/and/events/world-diabetes-day.

Reason for Rising Diabetes:

  • Rapid urbanization
  • Sedentary lifestyles
  • Unhealthy diets
  • Tobacco use
  • Increasing life expectancy.

Diabetes is Painful because:

  • Lifelong medication
  • Diet restriction
  • Decreased productivity
  • Regular pricks
  • Complication

Average annual direct cost Rs 8,822 (Break-up: Medicines – 52.1%, Lasers – 3.2%, Surgery – 12.6%, Investigations – 11.6%, Consultation – 10.4%) Average annual indirect cost Rs. 3949 (Treatment travel -3.4%, Health education – 0.4%, Diet control – 4.9%, Loss of wage – 91.3%)

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Blindness
  • Kidney failure
  • Amputation of toes, feet or legs.

How did this research start?

Being a diabetic himself Prof. Dr.Nisanth Nambison in an attempt to treat himself 2017 he used to prick his fingers several times a day to understand his bodies glycemic response pattern to diet and corrected abnormal patterns through diet and lifestyle changes. During his search he came across CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) sensor technology used for AGM (Ambulatory Glucose Monitoring) which changed the course of events. The FDA approved technology was being used by the doctors to calibrate dosage of insulin &medicines, but, Dr. Nambison repurposed the sensor to effectively manage Diabetes mellitus for himself and for his patients now living a drug free life. Later on Dr. Nambison got his training in CGM from Stanford University USA.

Drugless Solution:

A diabetic patient eats several different food items in a day and does several different activities without knowing about the real picture of the glucose levels in his body during the course of the day. Until now with fasting & post-prandial blood sugar levels it was merely a guess work. A generalised diet chart would be handed over to the patient and diabetic medication started. This never helped the patient manage his diabetes without medication, instead he would have to take the medication all through his life.

In a breakthrough scientific study by the above team lead by Prof. Dr.Nisanth Nambison, it was found that after training the ML (Machine Learning) algorithm, the AI (Artificial intelligence) can diagnose the root cause of rise in blood sugar of patients. It does so by recognising the abnormal patterns going on in the body that too in real time, by continuously collecting 288 blood sugar levels in a Day & 4032 levels in 14 days. After analysis of the data points of importance, using AI (Artificial intelligence) the system narrows down to the cause and suggests corrective action, these corrective actions made 14 out of 20 patients in the study medicine free, 3 patients could curtail the dose of medicine, and 3 others started symptomatically feeling better.

Powerful Prediction:

The AI (Artificial intelligence) software developed by Mr.Akhilesh Soni (Artificial Intelligence Engineer) & Dr. Nambison (Homeopathic Doctor & Computer Engineer) predicts future of disease, through understanding of historical behaviour of your body, hence, alerts you to take corrective measures. It designed to identify good and bad activities in your body & lifestyle, and accordingly alerts you with recommendations (do’s & don’t) for a healthy life. Pure data driven – Deep tissue metabolic analysis-based protocol.

The coin sized CGM sensor records the glucose variation in the body and a reader can read the data using near field communication technology as and when required, throughout the day for 14 days and the user records his activity in the app, at the end of 14 days both the data from sensor and users daily activity log clubbed together is then used for digging out the insights.

AI based Recommendation system:

The AI based recommendation system tells

  • Best timing for a particular food
  • Let’s you enjoy your favourite food & sweet by deciding – What, When & How much?
  • Promotes healthy activities & Visual representation helps the user to visualise the abnormality and take action.
  • Helps clinicians visualise the pattern.
  • Seeing is believing, patient can see the results in action.
  • Understand their body better.

This study has the power of bringing positive change in lives of millions of diabetics, by helping them lead a medicine free life.
